After successfully completing their graduation milestones, newly graduated Airmen earn Lackland BMT Liberty, which allows them to leave the base. The liberty schedule depends on merit and may vary slightly between graduation days.
Wednesday (Coin Ceremony Day):
After the Coin Ceremony, graduates receive Lackland BMT Liberty and can travel off base. They must remain in uniform and stay within the San Antonio Metropolitan Area, inside Loop 1604. Graduates must return to their training squadron by 8 p.m. Exceptions can apply, and Airmen receive a briefing before departing.
Thursday (Graduation Parade Day):
After the Graduation Parade, graduates are again granted Lackland graduation liberty to leave the base. On this day, liberty ends earlier, and Airmen must return to their squadron by 6 p.m.
It’s important to note that USAF BMT Liberty times can occasionally change due to unexpected weather conditions or safety concerns, so it’s essential to stay updated during your graduation visit.
